KK1/K2 Weekly Activities: March 30th - April 3rd
Hello Kinder families! We enjoyed hearing from many of you last week! We hope that you all continue to be well at home and are finding ways to enjoy your time as a family. We would like to offer you a list each week of optional activities that would target kindergarten skills and would require few materials or time. Please know that they are suggested activities if you are looking for ways to fill the day but that there are many ways to engage in learning with young children. Anything that you choose to do is wonderful. We also respect that there are many factors involved in each of our varying circumstances so please know that our learning activities are not to be an extra to-do on your lists. We hope that you all continue to find joy in your days and that you are all happy and healthy. We look forward to seeing your children again at school and in the meantime, we wish you all well.
Math: Count the rooms in your house. How many are there? Which rooms are the smallest/biggest? How do you know?
Language: While going for a family walk find all of the letters in your name in the signs around you. Ask your parents to take a photo of all the letters needed in your name on signs that you see and then put them together once you are home to spell your name!
Read the book, “Time to Come in Bear” with your family. This animated video children's book explains social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak to little kids. https://youtu.be/DA_SsZFYw0
French: For the next few weeks, our French activities will be focusing on Spring activities “le printemps.” Here is a link to a fun French song about Spring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKKWNJ8qsss and here is a link to watch a fun Spring video with your families: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGSPxaHUP4M. In your journals, please choose a few pictures to draw and please include the French words in your beautiful Spring picture. (E.g. title: Le printemps, draw a picture of a flower and a butterfly and include the French words, une fleur and un papillon)
STEAM:MakerSpace Challenge: Now that Spring has arrived, many birds will be looking for food to eat. Can you design and make your own bird feeder using recycled materials? Draw a prototype or design plan for your birdhouse first and then collect your materials and create!
Physical Education:Try a Cosmic Kids Yoga video on YouTube
Outdoor Learning:Family walk outside: How many signs of spring do you see around you? Extended learning: How do you know? For example, “I know Spring is coming because the snow is melting which means it’s becoming warmer outside.”
Optional: Please upload any pictures of your child’s learning on our Twitter page or send us an email with your photos. We would love to see all your learning! :)
